About

Matthew Sale has been building his own furniture for over 20 years. Starting with crude techniques and tools and simple projects, he honed his skills. His early efforts weren’t exactly marketable. old_photo

He learned finishing techniques from his father (C.J. Sale 1937-1989), a farmer who became an aircraft mechanic by trade and who refinished several antique pieces and restored guns and farm toys as hobbies. For many years Matt worked on his projects infrequently, due to the normal interruptions of work, family, and home repairs. His main occupation was Integrated Circuit design (BS-Computer Engineering – UIUC 1983), first for Delco Electronics (now Delphi Electronics) in Kokomo Indiana, then moving on to VLSI Technology in Schaumburg Illinois. VLSI Technology was purchased by Philips Semiconductors (now NXP) in June of 1999, and Matt moved up to managing the Chicago Technology Center later that year. In October 2002, the Chicago Tech. Center closed permantly, giving Matt the opportunity to pursue his hobbies: Working with wood and on his ’69 Mustang Fastback).

Matt sold Coach House Garages in the Lafayette, Crawfordsville, and Monticello Indiana region starting in October 2002. However, due to a variety of conditions, the Lafayette sales region was closed as of August 2003. Several garage projects carried over throughout 2004.

Matt passed the Illinois Life, Health, Property, and Casualty insurance license exams as well as the NASD 6 & 63 securities exams in the fall of 2003, and opened an office selling for Farmers Insurance Group www.farmers.com, in Danville, Illinois. This agency closed 11/30/04 due to insufficient business.

As of Dec. 13th, 2004, I took a position with EG&G Technical services at Crane NSWC. Its GREAT to be back in engineering! We relocated between Bedford and Mitchell Indiana. We love it here!

As of May 31st 2005, I am now working as a civilian for the Navy doing the same job that I did through EG&G.

The building for my new workshop & Mustang storage space was built July 6th, 2005 by Coach House Garages.
